We strive for specialised Care
We are committed to providing the highest standard of child-centred care for children with autism and learning disabilities. Our internal systems of quality assurance and monitoring ensure these standards are not only maintained but consistently improved upon.
Through our experience we know that transitions are often a key time in a young person’s childhood. Comprehensive transition planning and support enable us to confidently support a smooth transition tailored to each young person’s needs. For all transitions to and from residential or educational placements we will work in partnership with family, carers and any related professionals to develop a bespoke transition Plan.
We create strong partnerships with children and young people, professionals, parents, social workers, education and the local community.
Within The Lighthouse our team provide caring and appropriate role models who are experienced and well trained in supporting important “outcomes” for children and young people through the application of positive choices. Key workers help young people gain a sense of belonging and identity, building confidence and self-esteem.
We treat families and their children as individuals
Every child is unique. Our individual assessments ensure we provide them with the level of support required to meet the young people’s needs.
We also work closely with family and friends to ensure their wishes are heard. Where appropriate, we facilitate constructive contact and encourage families to be involved in all aspects of the young people’s lives and all special occasions.
We strive to ensure that all children at The Lighthouse have no limits. We encourage the children to enjoy on site and off site activities of their choice, to provide stimulation, exercise and fun! Children and young people have the opportunity to go on an annual holiday with friends and enjoy new challenges and experiences. We also ensure that every child’s birthday is celebrated along with any cultural occasions during the year.
We understand that The Lighthouse is the children’s home. The young people can council environmental changes in weekly children’s meetings supported by key workers
Children and young people’s bedrooms are furnished with bespoke tough wooden furniture and decorated to the child or young person’s unique style.
